Adelaide, relaxing with friends - 19th December 2016

I first met Deb on Facebook nearly 7 years ago after she mistook me for another Lisa Roberts and we've been chatting on and off since then. She always said 'if you're ever in Oz, call in' so that's what we did! We've had nearly 12 months to get used to the idea but there's always a chance that such a meeting won't work as face to face is so different to talking on line plus there was also the question of whether or not Lee & Wayne would get on but we honestly had the best of nights, loads of laughing & it feels like we've all been 'real' friends for years :)

This afternoon we went to a little animal park where you get the chance to cuddle koalas but as I went up to pay the woman informed us that at 34c it was too hot for them to come out :( I was gutted as today is out last chance to do this but I can't blame the koalas, I don't think I'd want to be mauled by an overexcited Englishwoman in this heat! So we went to a local cafe and wrote postcards instead!

We have just met Debs son (& Poppy's dad!)  Ryan Packer who along with Haydn Smith make up DJ/producer duo HP Source https://www.zdigital.com.au/artist/hp-source

Next year they will be touring the U.K. & Europe with their music and will hopefully stop by my studio in Malvern for some publicity shots :)

The Gully

After a lovely afternoon spent doing not much except lounging around in the garden, we've taken Deb & Wayne out for a meal at The Gully to say thankyou for making us so welcome in their home :)

We headed home to the most amazing sunset backdrop and Wayne kindly drove us up the nearby hills so I could get a really good view for photos.

These two were taken on my phone but I hopefully have some beauties on the Canon!

Spider!

If you don't like them I warn you not to read the next bit of my blog!

The heavy weather and bit of rain seems to have brought the mozzies out which in turn has brought the spiders out!

Huntsman Spider

 (Sparassidae family)

This is my first big Aussie spider, not a huge one by Huntsman standards (about 3 inches)  but I think he's pretty cool :) The Huntman's venom is not dangerous to humans, but they have been known to cause harm by suddenly appearing from behind the sun visor when the driver is not expecting it......

After all of the spider excitement, just as we were off to bed we were  treated to a thunder & lightning show which unfortunately didn't really last long enough for any decent photos. I snapped this from the street outside the house and managed to catch the end of a flash!
