Having made the most of being in one place for more than one night, I may have over indulged a bit last night so woke up slightly later than usual (8.30am) & slightly worse for wear! A couple of coffees & some vegemite on toast later though, we were good to go, so set off in the van for a driveabout.
On the way
Back in the Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park, we came across a sign for Shelley Cove & decided to check it out.
Looking down on Shelley Cove Beach
Rocky cliffs at Shelley Cove
It was totally different to the other beaches, as it's name suggests the beach was made up of tiny shells & pebbles & although it wasn't good for swimming due to the rocks & the waves, we spent a lovely few hours collecting shells, finding crabs & climbing & sunbathing on the rocks & of course, taking photos :)
Lee exploring

Rockbathing (Lee sneaked this one!)
Pair of flirty gulls :)
Shark locating helicopter
King's skink
While I was exploring on the rocks I saw what I thought at first glance was a snake but luckily it turned out to be the tail of a lizard. A bit of googling later & I discovered that the tail belonged to a king's skink, a native of SW Australia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egernia_kingii I found several of these around the same area amongst the rocks & loving lizards I was really pleased to have got some shots of them in their natural habitat :)
Hello!
Leaving Shelley Cove
After we left Shelley Cove we drove on to another part of Eagle Bay. It's a lovely beach & the water was crystal clear & calm but although the sun was out, it was not that hot and a bit too windy to brave the water so we just chilled on our towel instead!
